During the third quarter of 2022, the overall volume of Cameroon's exports grew by 1.2% year-on-year, according to official statistics published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). "Excluding crude oil and natural gas, exports of goods increased in volume by 6.1%," the INS said, revealing the impact of the slowdown in oil and natural gas shipments on the country's overall exports.
Several other products have also contributed to this moderate improvement in export volumes. "The moderate dynamics in the overall exports of goods is the result of a shrinking external demand for the main export products such as wood logs, crude oil and natural gas, sawn timber and agricultural export products," the NSI report notes.
The report goes on to say that "the improvement in exports of agricultural processing products and other export goods on the other hand has helped maintain positive growth in the export of goods (+0.7%)".
