The Technical Commission for the Rehabilitation of Public and Para Public Enterprises (CTR) has published its 2020 report.
In its edition of Thursday, 20 January 2021, the national bilingual daily Cameroon-Tribune, made public the classification of most performant Public Enterprises with a positive operating and net income as at 31 December 2020.
The achievements of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) must be commended considering the health and security crisis plaguing the nation. In fact, the general trend on economic and financial performance shows a decrease of about -25.54% compared to 2019. However, some companies, such as the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), maintained and even increased their turnover.
It should be noted that the CTR also attributes this increased underperformance of public sector enterprises to structural factors linked to governance. Possible solutions to this problem could include the proper implementation of the 2017 laws on the general status of public establishments and enterprises and related subsequent decrees of 2019, among others, in addition to a review of the performance contracts used to restructure many public enterprises, or replacing them with new and more efficient performance contracts.
