The Minister of Arts and Culture at the Douala Maritime Museum.

On 20 April 2019, the CNSC General Manager unveiled this cultural sanctuary to his august guest.

Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, CNSC General Manager and owner of the Douala Maritime Museum, welcomed Minister Pierre Ishmael Bidoung Mkpatt, in a festive atmosphere. Traditional dance groups were on hand to welcome the Minister with throbbing rhythms and sounds from various regions of Cameroon.

The Museum was particularly honoured by such a rare visit by its technical supervisory authority. This once again highlighted the importance that the Cameroon Government attaches to the development of culture. At the end of the guided tour of the Douala Maritime Museum, the Minister of Arts and Culture commended the initiative of the CNSC Management and all its partners. He added that “the Cameroon Government, aware of its rich cultural diversity, is implementing the Cultural Renewal Policy, which seeks to make museums real centres for the promotion of culture, which forms the basis of the identity of our communities and national unity in Cameroon.

In response to the concerns expressed by the CNSC General Manager in his welcome address, the Minister reassured him that the Museum will continue to receive support from MINAC in the form of technical assistance in the development of scientific and cultural projects, experience sharing, the establishment of a cultural property acquisition policy and capacity building.
