On 14 June 2022, the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, addressed members of parliament at the National Assembly. It was an opportunity for him to respond to concerns raised by parliamentarians on issues of general interest, such as the implementation of the national policy on import substitution. The Prime Minister, in his response, outlined the main business strategy adopted by the government to promote products "Made in Cameroon".

Further into his speech, the Prime Minister recalled some measures taken by the government to encourage investment in the country. Reference was being made here to the production of consumer goods on a national scale and in sufficient quantities to ensure their availability, reduce losses in livestock and fishery products, and overhaul the agricultural system for an eventual transformation of local production.

The government also recommends restricting the import of products whose demand can be met by local supply and by gradually increasing taxes on imported goods that can actually be produced in the country, combating smuggling and counterfeiting, and by granting tax and customs incentives to investors.
