SMEs approved for the private investment incentive scheme were in the limelight.

On 15 June 2021, the CNSC Training Hall plaid host to a meeting bringing together the Cameroon National Shippers’ Council (CNSC) and the Small-and Medium Sized enterprises Promotion Agency (APME), two public establishments whose common mission is to supervise SMEs. The CNSC and APME delegations were led by Mme Takouchop Claire, CNSC Director for Assistance to Shippers and Mr. Lobe Constant, APME Director for the One-Stop Shop for Incentives to 'Private Investment respectively. Some twenty managers of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises involved in import- / export-dependent activities were in attendance.

“The main aim of this joint meeting is to establish contact with Small-and Medium Sized enterprises (SMEs) that the CNSC will supervise, collect the difficulties they encounter in fulfilling foreign trade procedures and assess the various investment programmes set up by the state for such SMEs,” Mme Takouchop Claire said.

Taking the floor, SMEs representatives outlined their main concerns which include poor mastery of some procedures, skyrocketing freight rates, unjustified costs to be paid to Customs despite the exemptions they enjoy, poor mastery of the procedure and costs of establishing the ECTN and the refusal of some export products.

In response, SMEs were advised to always contact, as soon as possible, the APME for investment-related issues and the CNSC via assistance@cncc-cm.org in the event of an obstacle in foreign trade procedures.
