A delegation from the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) is currently taking part in the 33rd session of the General Assembly of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in London, United Kingdom.
The delegation comprises Mrs. Claire Onana Takouchop, Director of Shippers' Assistance, and Mr. Nolga Fernand Douglas, Director of Trade Facilitation and Transport Observatory.
The IMO is a specialised agency of the United Nations responsible for formulating and approving measures necessary to enhance the safety and security of international maritime transport and to prevent marine pollution from ships and other wastes discharged into the sea.
The IMO General Assembly is the organisation's most important governing body. It meets every two years and is responsible for approving the organisation's work programme and action plan. At this 33rd session, the members of the new IMO Council will also be elected for a two-year term.
