The Museum took to the streets to celebrate African football

Fluttering flags of countries participating in the 2021 African Cup of Nations hang from the boat-shaped building stationed in Douala's administrative district, Bonanjo. At the entrance of the building is a miniature football stadium with an imposing figurine dressed in the colours of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. Next to this representation of the Douala Maritime Museum's support for Cameroon's national team, is a replica of the trophy in contention. Since the start of the African Cup of Nations, the entrance of the museum has been a real attraction for tourists and visitors who find it a befitting background for photoshoots to immortalize their experience.

Dressed in the colours of the Indomitable Lions, the museum's staff had support from the cultural dance group "Les Gazelles" to create a carnival-like atmosphere from the esplanade of the Douala Maritime Museum to different corners of the city. This fanfare by the Douala Maritime Museum fill the streets of Douala on a daily basis, dancing to different rhythms with exotic moves at all strategic points along their way.

After animating all through the city, the caravan ends its daily tour at the esplanade of the Douala Maritime Museum in the early hours of the afternoon. Amidst all this entertainment, visitors storm this cultural reserve. “We are very happy to receive visitors from all over the world during the AFCON and are particularly impressed by the number of people who come here every day. The most remarkable visit was from the Ivorian delegation there to draw inspiration from our achievements in view of conceiving cultural attractions for the next AFCON to be hosted by Côte d'Ivoire ", remarked Mr. Minka Apollinaire.
